With Comfort and Nutrition,

From the paranoid mother,

Who kept her safe from all predators

The juvenile caterpillar now begins her journey all alone!

Molting and Spinning,
Ready to pupate,the chrysalis is
Bracing up to face the outer world
Of sore and pain, of struggle and discomfort
And of tormenting survival,

Coiled around the strands of silk,
Adhered with despair,
In the plight of flight
Is the squirming caterpillar

Ends this gruesome stage as
She breaks the back of the beast,
Splitting the chrysalis casing,
Emerging as a butterfly!
She takes her first flight
Resisting the chill wind with her potent wings!
