One Day
One day
One day I will be a better writer
One day I’ll become a little lighter
One day I’ll have money
And life will taste of honey
One day I’ll escape the culture of my hometown
One day I’ll be happy
One day I’ll write a poem that rhymes all the way through
One day I’ll be free of shackles that keep me slave within my own body
One day I’ll escape from the detainers that haunt me
One day depression and Anxiety won’t torture me
Won’t let them leave me a withered, beaten husk of who I want to be
One day I’ll see why life is worth living
That I am worth loving
One day
One day holds so much.
One day is an elusive dream
An uncertain future
A bank into which we deposit wishes that we hope
To withdraw and cash into reality.
One day, the day will come. And what will it bring?
I’ll know, and so will you.
One day.

I was inspired to write this poem after composing a letter that contained a few of these lines.
