broken matchsticks
you say to let it go
yet in your right hand you hold a lit match
and in your left is gasoline
your words threaten me
your eyes
the way you clench your fists and spit when you talk
the way the door slams behind you and rattles the house
the way that even though you never touch me
you get close enough that i can taste your breath
and feel you shaking with rage
the way that you let yourself get lost
and on the way to finding yourself
you lose my trust
if i show that i can be strong
will you drop the match?
because i am okay with burning
if i can get away from you
