The Wind Stings
Desperately screaming against the chaotic wind of life
Wanting to be heard
Wanting to be remembered
Almost desperate enough to say anything
Hear me!
Remember me!
So many wanting to be heard
Yet too many to be remembered
The world’s chaos swirling around me
Their wind, it chokes my breath
Silences my screams
Is becoming the wind the only way?
Silence others
Choke others
They are forced to look at me
Many hurt me with this tactic
I watch them and see them flourish
Still, I cannot be a part of this chaos
The wind stings when you stand within it
I cannot control the wind
I cannot control the chaos
Somewhere there is a place where the chaos does not brim
My independent ideas and thoughts protect me
Building a safe place for myself within myself
A barrier to the wind

Most people say they don't care what other people think, but I imagine that everyone doesn't want to be on the outside always looking in. Yet, there will be a time when things get better, and this poem also acknowledges that hope. As J.K. Rowling said, " Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light."
