The Whole of Life
I had one of the best days of my life yesterday.
In the moment, it felt like it would last forever.
I missed it before it was already gone,
Most memories feel like this.
Until you bring yourself back to that moment,
You realize ,
It’s gone.
I wrote the first line to this poem five minutes ago.
I didn’t know how to start this,
But now I can’t stop writing,
That moments gone to.
Life is short.
Something not realized
Until you realize,
You didn’t take advantage of it.
I want to do enough,
Live enough,
Be enough,
Without looking back
With regret because it’s gone,
And wondering if I should have done more.
