Favorite Quote:
"and the salt in my wounds isn't burning anymore than it used to. It's not that I don't feel the pain. It's just I'm not afraid of hurting anymore. And the blood in these veins isn't pumping any less than it ever has and that's the hope I have, the only thing I know that's keeping me alive." - Paramore (Last Hope)

Hello I see you have met my friend,

They are with me until the very end,

Maybe that is why I do not wish to lose my grip,

Maybe that is why my heart continues to rip,

It seems that everyone else seems to leave while this seems to stay,

It listens to every word that I have to say,

Maybe that is why I don’t let go of the voices in my head,

They are with me even when hope is dead,

“Maybe this isn’t healthy.” I say to my mind,

“Oh yes,” It whispers sarcastically. “Because the world is so kind.”

So then I sit there alone in the dark of night,

I wish that someone would shed some light,

I refuse to believe that there is good left in my life,

Reality continues to cut like a knife,

So I hold onto the voices that are always near,

While I shed my last tear,

Then I heard a voice that could calm all my addiction,

For a second my heart does not feel conflicted,

Why I trust you I do not know,

Maybe I was weak from holding a heart as cold as the snow,

Maybe I was too tired to comprehend what I was saying,

Or maybe the string binding my heart had began fraying,

I don’t know what I regret or cherish anymore,

All I know is my heart has a slightly mended tore,

The author's comments:

This poem was inspired by anxiety and depression. They are pretty much there 24/7 and I hoped poetry like this could help some readers cope just as poetry helps me. It is hard to get better and sometimes you don't want to get better but there is always hope. There is always someone there. I promise. Have a great day!
