Gone so Soon
addy NOOO please don’t leave me, STAY!
I love you daddy and I promise I’ll be good
I’ll do like you said and get on my knees every night and pray
I thought you were gonna be around until I reach adulthood
Please don’t go I want you to stay
I can’t loose you daddy I’m still so young
I remember that day like it was yesterday, me holding my daddy in my arms tears streaming down my face making my eyes blurry and waking up the next day with no voice from screaming the night before
I didn’t quite understand what happened to my father that night I just knew he wasn’t coming home with me and that he was gone, my mama said because of “the Cold War”
It was a war between people of color and police officers
A war being fought since slavery days and still in existence
They killed and beat us like we are foreigners
They treated us like we are property and nonexistent
Me and my mom were some of the many mourners
The reason for killing our people is so inconsistent
Seeing my daddy die that night changed me forever
Just know they you will never be forgotten, me and mama will get through this together
