The cold droplets of water
Caressed my skin
As the sun met the ocean
And brought the tide in.

I complained and whined
As she tugged on my hand,
And I watched the cloud’s tears
Play with the sand.

“Why does she get to stay?”
I complained to the sun.
“When you get older,” She said,
“You can play when the day is done.”

As I sat in her stare
And my eyes began to close
I realized life was always unfair;
But if it’s unfair to everyone, it’s kind of fair I suppose.

She held me in her warmth
To ensure that emotions that would soon swim near
Wouldn’t chill my heart
Or create a tear

She is the sun
And I am the waves.
She protects me
Even on my darkest days.

The sun shone on us both;
The ocean and sand.
Her influence is the one thing
That would, forever in our hearts, stand.
