The flame I hold is dulling
It’s only embers now
I try so hard to keep it up
But I’m losing it somehow
People don’t seem to notice
Nor do they seem to care
I’m looking at the world right now
With such an empty stare
My mind my only nemesis
My feelings so inane
They hinder every step I take
It’s driving me insane
But what emotion is there?
Oh how I've searched so deep
My thoughts are like a hungry wolf,
My sanity’s the sheep.
Some nights I see the stars so bright
Some nights I see just black
Meanwhile the wolf inside my head
Is finishing its snack
I know that I am searching
I just don’t know what for
I’m hoping I will find it soon
Before the wolf wants more.

DANNY I LOVE THIS!!! Wow... impressive
I cannot fully communicate how much I love and relate to this poem. I think I really started to perk up and gain interest in the second stanza, and then you continued to amaze me throughout the rest of the poem. "My sanity's the sheep" is probably my favorite line. Anyways, you've somehow managed to describe exactly how I feel, and I really appreciate that. What makes someone a great writer is how they connect to the reader, and I think you've managed to do that effortlessly (:

I love this! So packed with emotion, so wonderfully described; just pure. It may not be the happiest thing ever, but it is most definately pure thoughts and emotions. It is true. Well done, keep it up! xoxo :D

Woah! This is the best ballad I have ever read! Fantastic word choice! My favorite phrase was: "My thoughts are like a hungry wolf, My sanity's the sheep." How original! 5/5 stars!
