"hardwork beats talent when talent doesn't work hard."

I boarded a train that took me back,

And gave me a glimpse of my country’s past.

I stood in horror as the Twin Towers collapsed,

So many innocent lives that we would not get back.

I watched Neil Armstrong jump with these very eyes,

One small leap for man, one giant step for mankind.

I went to boycotts and sit-ins with MLK,

Preaching equality in a non-violent way.

On the Underground Railroad I joined Harriet Tubman,

19 times back and forth, not stopping for nothin’.

Along side George Washington,

I fought with dignity,

Defeating the British

And giving this country liberty.

The obstacles we have overcome,

And the change we have made,

Have transformed us into who we are today.

And as I gaze into the horizon,

I smile at what the future holds,

New tales for a new generation to behold.

This started as a class assignment and I took it a little further! The format got messed up a little when I posted it. Feel free to leave feedback!
