The Beginner

Looking at the mountain’s peak,
The beginner grew quite frightened,
And watching experts carve with speed,
His lurking fear just heightened.

He waited there, with stomach churning,
Tips behind the line,
Nervous for the charging chariot to deliver him far beyond the pines.

With eyes clinched tight and sweaty palms
The skier heard a voice.
“Have a nice lift! See you in a few!”
Turning back was no longer a choice.

Higher and higher, the passengers escalated
Climbing to the top,
But nothing compared to the crippling terror
Of gazing down the drop.

thinking back to my first experience skiing, and watching others fall into the same web of fear inspired me to write this
