A flicker of hope flashes.

I race to catch it, before it burns to ashes.

He looks at me with those deep brown, bloodshot eyes.

I smile vaguely, my only disguise.

I hide the pain, the hurt, the tears.

I need to stay cogent, despite my fears.

My brother is sick, he promises me that he is okay.

I try to believe him, but is he only okay for today?

He's slowly breaking down, my Grandmother dries her tears.

He can't go like this, not after two years.

I watch as he suffers from intense Chemo.

He keeps getting worse, we already know.

Then, after pain and tears from all around, I find the hope in the palm of my brothers hand.

He fights, and arises from his once weak stance.

Dear Cancer, keep walking, never turn around. Not even for a second glance.

I wrote this poem about the time my brother suffered from Lymphoma, which is a cancer of the lymph nodes. He was sick for about two years, then arose like the fighter I knew he was. Now, two years since he recovered, he has a Grand Scholarship to college for Baseball. He is my hero, shh. :)

This is REALLY REALLY good. I'm sorry to hear about your brother, but im happy that he was strong enough to beat it and that he is doing good now.
