As I'm walking down the street
I see a man rob a lady
he shoves her to the ground
turns and runs away

The lady doesn't get up
I see the blood spill from her head
The light fades from her eyes
And then she's dead

Why did this have to happen
Why did he need her bag
What if this lady had kids
Or a husband in the hospital


Why can't we all get along
Be one big family

I'm in the school hallway
And that's when I see
A small kid on the floor
Surrounded by bullies

But what really gets to me
Are the people around
All the bystanders watching
They’re not doing a thing

Why aren’t they helping
Why do we just stand by
As injustice swirls around us
And sucks away our last breath

Why can't we all get along

I turn on the TV
The startling new I see
Sends a shock through me
A committed suicide

The child was ten
The age where nothing is wrong
Not a worry in the world
But not for this kid

He was bullied into it
The kids called him names
Said he was “dirty” and “stunk”
While not knowing his case

His parents had lost their jobs
The bills were piling up
His water had been turned off
How could he be clean

How could he even be happy
With bullies building up his misfortunes
Throwing salt into his wounds
Wouldn’t give him hope for the future

Why can't we all get along

The world we have now
Keeps bringing pain
Mankind must band together
So we can save humanity
