Let us love as if no one was watching

Let us share our passions and watch the chain reaction

Of the compassion that we bestow upon the individuals passing.

                                      Instead of fashion

Or flashing fads that fade like all the fun we’ve had.

Let us see ourselves as each other

And each other as one another

As we embark on this beautiful tragedy that we call life.

Let us see ourselves in each other’s eyes.

                            Let us see the butterfly’s,

The blue skies, the birds soaring high.

                                We too could fly,

                                 If only we tried.

The author's comments:

I wrote this slam poem in response to all of the tradgedies that I was seeing in the world. I thought that it was important that we all took a second to remember that at the end of the day, we are all just simple people trying to navagate life and we should treat each other as such.
