poem about the effects of bullying. This was a spoken word poem that I presented infront of the class.

Chapter 1: untited

Beyond repair, abrasive sand filling my lungs,
Choking word for word stumbling
My greatest fears expelling through the airlock of my mind
Words that came as daggers leaving wounds behind
Cuts unseen by the naked eye
They destroy the shield  of self confidence That once held strong
Words that to you are just words but to me
To me, they're bombs
Breaking down layers of barriers I’ve built to,
To ignore all the scars and pain
embedded within this amber
You call a joke

These three words, “Get over it”
Are Match, striker, and fire

Why can’t you understand
That when you break a piece of glass words of regret,
of remorse,
of repentance
are nothing but a length of tape,
a useless attempt to reform what was lost
To undo the cost
Those “jokes” hold no value to you,
But to others?
They’ve gone through it

My friend was crying in the bathroom
and you called him overly sensitive
Underly assertive
Easily hurt

Maybe you should have rethought your “joke”
Because if you’re a comedian than I’m Edgar Allan Poe
And if it “meant nothing”
I guess that makes you the joke.
People tell you to forgive and forget,
that holding a grudge is unreasonable
And yes Wounds heal, but they leave scars
And then  x marks the spot
Every reminder
Releases the pain contained inside
Again and again
While he works to forget
For nothing

You’re overly aggressive
Underly empathetic
Easily offensive

Since every reminder
Releases the blood
Of the wounded beast

But as that blood flows out
it binds to your skin not mine
Your words will not disappear

they are etched into your skin
Actions can be forgiven, but never forgotten
My pane of glass is still shattered
And no matter how hard you may try
How hard you press the shards together
They will not mend
