Kaleidoscopes
He woke up
Feeling like his whole life was just a dream.
He saw double, triple of everything
As if his eyes were two kaleidoscopes in his head.
The sun beat down on the hot summer morning
Burning his blue eyes,
Already red and sore,
As if the big hot ball of fire was right in front of his face
Instead of 93 million miles away.
Not only did his eyes sting,
But his heart hurt more.
If only they had a medicine, a doctor with a heart thermometer
To help save him from the constant torpedos
Crashing and destroying his soul,
Numbing him until he could feel no more.
