Kayaking

I grasp the hard, hand-blistering paddle tightly,
In my already skinned hands.
Each stroke leaves me feeling stronger,
And weaker
Before me, the sun glistens over the water
Seeing diamonds sparkle before me,
As I sit under my nature-made umbrella.

As we paddle,
My stomach growls,
Like a hungry bear.
The long seven miles
Of hard, muscle building paddling,
And still not back.

I dip my seaweed-covered, paddle
Deeper in the water
Going faster, longing for shore,
Desperately in need of something to eat.
