how can it be
How can it be
That the land of the free
chooses this way
Not willing to pay
How can it be
You look at me
And do nothing
But there’s just one thing
How can it be
You watch us flee
The scene without a care
Is it just a scare
How can it be
the land of the free
Has a mass shooting
And then willingly is chilling
How can it be
That you cannot see
What’s burning your eyes
before the sun dies
How can it be
That you ignore me
But what’s screaming at you
A loud boo
How can it be
With death and plea
What we face alone
Our fears while you stare at your phone
How can it be
That you decree
That we live our lives
Not as tens but as fives
How can it be
That you think our problems are the size of a pea
But what you don’t see
Is that it’s an elephant and not a flea
How can it be
For what is shall be
That I look in the mirror and see a woman
But others may see an object to a man
How can it be
That we are a group that stands as we
But we drift away
Leaving everyone astray
How can it be
That we need to be
Better than everyone
But “we” don’t realize is we shouldn’t be better than everyone
How can it be
That “we” don’t see
We are a part
For we help to push us apart
How can it be
That ‘we” don’t stand as we
But are a separated union
What we really need is a reunion
