They Say
“That’s gay!” they say.
The phrase echoes
Like a thieve
Stealing and depriving the identities of many
“You act like a girl!” they say.
Each time those five words are recited
The greater the waves of inequality grow
Slowly building and waiting to crash
Terrorizing the innocent caught in the battle of our society
“Boys don’t cry!” they say.
An idea ingrained in a world of male dominance
The irreprochable forced into a mold that doesn’t fit
But “they” grasp the world’s influence with their followers and likes
And the rays of ignorance blinds their vision of reality
“You terrorist! Are you gonna blow us up?” They say.
Generalizations that grab at the soul
Clawing Scratching
Allowing societal discrimination to prevail
It’s arm of inequality raised in triumph
Those malicious eyes fixed on its next minority
“Black people like you are inferior!” they say.
Centuries of the same racial prejudice
Planted in fear
Grown in compliance
All those years went by
Technology Philosophy Astronomy Scientology
Same discrimination
Same battle
“You’re Asian, you’re smart!” they say.
A statement rooted in dehumanization
Making others feel unexceptional and common
Like a cockroach waiting to be smashed
“You’re white, you have it easy!” they say.
White privilege and white guilt
Together
Singing a dismal two-tone melody
The politicians say they understand
Say they know
But they don’t know about the tears
The endless days
The faded nights
The constant worrying
Will I become another one?
Am I the same?
Will I ever be accepted?
Am I viewed differently?
“Stop this!” We say.
“Stop this!”
We say.

Equality for all; we need action. I'm inspired by the people who live their best self despite the racial, sexual orientation, and gender stereotypes. Bottom line, I want to help all and form a more unified world where we are looked at by our character, not our unique traits.
