savior
the philosophy of
‘if you never eat, you’ll never grow’
applies to our minds,
as well as our bodies.
i occupy the concept
while absentmindedly
playing with the food i've been given
by my pretentious and prophetic relatives.
my mother interrupts my thoughts
as she urges me to partake of the bread and water;
but i'm not terribly hungry
and the meal doesn't appear too appetizing.
she persists regardless
from the head of the table as she passes the meal
and for the sake of my matriarch
i digress...
my mother relays in me that food will be my savior
but the funny thing is i'm not afraid of starving.

I have noticed a pressure to believe in the things your parents believe in, especially at my age.
