Beware the Black Heart
Why should I live
In a world of delight,
When a type of hell is
Awaiting me
In the depths of the night?
As I say this,
I come to the conclusion;
The world and all its joys and fears
Is nothing but a grand illusion.
Why must I try to
Make something of myself here,
When the purpose of life
Is still so very unclear?
Like my worries and pains,
And my worst,
Scary fears,
Should I stay in this world when they all
Disappear?
Why should I stay
And make myself whole,
When there’s a world down below
That can harbor my soul?
That hell is my friend,
My enemy
My lover
Though it still remains
A great big scary endeavor.
I cry to above,
On which God rests
Atop a big fluffy cloud
Like a partridge in its nest.
He hears them and answers,
My pleas of death,
And thus He sends me,
Plummeting down,
Into my eternal rest.
“Oh great, mighty God,
Why didn’t you warn me,
That I would suffer alone,
So terribly cold and lonely?”
“But I did, and I have shown you the way,”
Replies the Almighty God,
Getting farther away.
And thus I must swim
In the seas of great fire,
Writhing
Wriggling
Clawing
Like my darkest inner desires.
And so I wish to close
With one final warning,
So listen close, dearie,
For there will be no hope
in the morning.
Beware your black heart,
For if you don’t, you surely will fall
Deep down into the great Pit of Despair,
In which you shall become
Nothing
At all.
