I Don't Want to Write a Poem

I don’t want to write a poem

11:24am and I have sat here and stared
Into space for the past 15 minutes. At least
I’ve came up with one thing, and that is the
Simple fact that I’m not a poet

So finally page after page, scribble after
scribble, I’m still sitting here thinking about
What i want for dinner, and what i want to do
After work.

Blank thoughts, but what can I say it’s school.
Everyone has those thoughts at least once,
Twice three times even. 2:55 where are you?
Why can’t you come any faster?

I’m tired, tired of figuring out what I should write
About knowing that I don’t want to write a poem
And once again blank thoughts occur

Whoops looks another page is missing from my notebook
if only it were as easy as people thought, but here I am,
writing about thoughts that can’t make its way out of head
And onto paper

Did I forget to mention, I’ve ripped out at least 10
Pages, so looks like I’m going to have go notebook
Shopping again. Great!

The author's comments:

I was very inspired about writing this piece, because I was sitting in English class and I had no clue what to write about. As I was sitting there, I thought to myself "why not write a poem about why you don't want to write one" and that's how my poem came about.
