Opening Doors

We knock before entering
to see if our summons
will be answered.
We lock doors
to keep those set on entering
from doing so.
We build doors
so that we can spend life
seeing how many we can open.
We open doors
to see who has the courage
to let us in.
But the real test
that lies in opening doors
isn't to always be trusting enough
to leave yours open-
but to have faith
that when you reach for the knob
the door you seek will open.
