What is Despair?
That girl is constantly in a state of despair
as she pretends to keep everything light,
but just ends up more distant.
She feels the need to always be intoxicated.
The drinks continuousl sparkle
in the light that keeps her mind silent.
To her, the people turn to black, and its silent.
She hopes, but it just becomes despair
to the heart that continues to sparkle
and speak as though her world is full of light,
even when it sees the edge through an intoxicated
haze. Moving her to stay distant.
Keeping her words as thoughts makes her distant
from the people she cares about. The silent
space between them like an intoxicated
high, making her friends feel her despair.
Her friends try to make her laugh and see the light
like they do, bright and with sparkle.
Her green eyes they see the world and sparkle
with the hope she feels as she becomes less distant.
Shes seeing it, off in the distance the shining light,
but her mind is still keeping her words silent.
She feels it. In the back of her mind. The despair
creeping back inside until she is once again intoxicated.
She wishes to rid herself of this intoxicated
shell so she can continue to shine and sparkle
as she did before. Then one day the despair
floats away, the space between her and reality less distant,
she speaks and she is no longer silent
and suppressed. She finally walked into the light.
She feels its warmth and knows the light
is her home. She no longer feels the need to be intoxicated
she feels freedom on her skin. She forgets shes no longer silent
and then she speaks, and it sounds like the sparkle
she always believed in. She moves closer and the distant
girl is no more. She asks herself, "What is despair?"
