Melting the Frost

As  I walk through the streets filled with snow,
I hurry to my bus stop book bag in hand.
I am covered in scarves and coats from head to toe
My nose is frozen, but all I can think of is my feet in the sand.

As I close my eyes and listen close
The wind rustling through the trees makes me dream
Of the sun dancing across the water as the world slows,
As children in the water play and scream.

But it is the winter
And I am outside fighting the cold.
As the wind pushes through my coat like a splinter
I wish for waves that crash on sand the color of gold

I am tired of winter,
Tired of cold.

I am ready for summer,
Ready for fun.
Ready for sunglasses
and the warmth on my skin.

Goodbye winter,
Goodbye school,
I’m off to the ocean,
Abiento!

I was inspired by the snow outside and how much I wish summer was here.
