Cycle of Life
It started its early days with a little sprout
It’s tiny green leaves eager to break free
The little plant hoping to be as big as the sycamore trees
It was so demanding though
It was constantly thirsty
So I hydrated with plenty of water
It constantly wanted to feel the sun
So I planted it where the sun's rays always shined
I gave it everything it wanted
But it only rewarded me with it’s prickly red thorns
It was agonizing for me
For I was tired of its constant demands
And the physical pain it put unto me
Then came winter and its inevitable death
It withered and dulled and then it was gone
It was not until the first snow came
When I realized how much the red beauty meant to me
Until next summer
