Te'Keyah
I walk with confidence, I strut with pride.
I may be a young, black female, but that doesn’t stop my drive.
I can look you in your eye and make you understand,
That I’m me and I’m doing all I can.
If people knew what I went through,
They would give me way more credit than they do.
I dance my heart out every chance I get so that people can understand why I deserve respect.
My crooked smile doesn’t always hold to be true,
I have one goal to accomplish and it has nothing to do with school.
I need to stand up for myself and let it be known that
One day everyone will see,
They will not run all over me.
