The room was a marvelous color when we all walked in
The excitement in our voices
All waiting for that one special day
Not being able to do it again

We head off and the wind was blowing hard when we went outside
Over excitement and fear all kicked all
We got to our campground and the night was moonless almost blank
In the distance we saw dark colored trees tall and grand

The camp leader told us sleep inside our cabin for the night
Food, boots and gear crunch as we throw them into the corner
With some muffled laughs here and there everything was perfect
We lay gazing out the windows in the star struck night

My mother called our names and we threw ourselves out of sleeping bags
We walk outside and it was already 100 degrees out and the Temp was climbing ever so sudden
We survey the meadows, a rich golden color swaying in the distant wind
The tree watched us ever so more closely than before
We peak at the mountain and see fuchsine rich dirt

As the day comes to an end the sights cease to appear
Only leaving a dark sky behind us
Snap! That broken twig I stepped on reminded of this place
Over and over again
