Snake
School just got out only a couple days ago.
Beams of light hit my aunt and uncle's patio.
My family came to a gathering, all of their kids were there.
Though I didn't see my grandma, I couldn't see her anywhere.
After we stuffed our mouths the kids went to a ditch that was really high.
At first I jumped off thinking I was going to die.
The sand felt good between our toes.
After a while my cousin said “do you want to go home?”
I said “sure, I suppose.”
When we got back my uncle brought out the snake.
We were all very surprised to see that thing awake.
It got to the point, everyone wanted to put it on there arm
I said “I want to try, there can't be any harm.”
Twas my turn to hold and pet the smooth brown, noodle.
It came near me, all I heard was WHOOSH, HISS, CRACK.
My eyes were glued tight, when they opened I was in shock.
Everything was moving, like my body was in a lock.
Mom came over to take me in to wash the two holes in my skin.
Seeing the holes, it looked like two very large pins that went in.
They didn't really hurt much only a little sting
We both knew that I couldn't get angry over a little thing
Walking back outside to see where the snake went
He was on the ground looking like a noodle that was bent.
looking at the snake, I looked at his eyes
For a second it looked like he wanted to apologize.
My uncle lightly cupped the snake to put it in its tank
When the snake got settled it sat on a wooden plank
The snake started to rest while everyone else went home
From that on I leaned to leave big snakes alone
