The Monster
I sat on the tube,
patiently waiting for Julia
to climb on.
She reached up,
grasping onto the handle.
Anger on her face
because our first ride ended with her crashing into the water.
“Help me up.”
She clutched onto me as
I pulled my body back.
Hauling her on
water drips splashed
off of her.
I grinned with happiness,
knowing she wouldn’t stay mad for long.
Soon enough
the boat ripped us forwards
again.
The water,
thin glass,
reflecting the shock on my face.
Suddenly a monstrous wave
called to us.
We hit this wall of terror
and tumbled into the air,
into space.
My head cracked down
hard,
hard on the water.
I sank and
sank.
Wondering where I was,
Hoffman2
gazing up to the sunlight,
above the water.
Suddenly I rise.
Bobbing up and down,
waiting for the boat to come save me
from the monster.
But I survived.
