Championship
This was it
the championship game.
It would be the last game
I would ever play in this gym.
My heart banged in my throat.
Sweat dripped from my chin.
I was nervous throughout the day,
until a strange calm came over me.
The game came faster
than light itself.
Before I knew it,
my team mate
passed the ball.
I received the burnt orange ball with
my sweaty palms, and I glanced to see
If anyone was open.
No one was,
and I had to shoot.
I bent my knees and drew in a quick breath.
The guards closing in on me.
I tucked in my arm, and felt the ridges of the ball.
Then without thinking I released the ball and watched it
whizz through the air.
Before I knew what happened I heard the swish of the net.
After I heard it,I tried to hide the big grin on my face.
I can´t believe I made a basket.
The game was fast paced,
and the pressure was on.
Although the weight of the game was on our shoulders.
It didn’t seem to faze my team.
We kept scoring over and over.
It was unbelieveable.
Before we knew it,
we were up by twenty points.
We had won.
After that game, something changed.
I had a new type of confidence in myself,
and a love for a game I never thought I could play.

I was inspired to write this piece becuase I had never really felt confident in myself, but this game changed that for me and it also made me realize how much I loved the game.
