A Masquerade

The melody chides away
Drumming rhythm into dancing corpses-
Oh! How wonderfully they sway.

Pounding the walls with applauses; “the rose just toss it”
They say; my heart trembling as I hear.
Devils decorate their corsets,

But there’s nothing to fear.
It’s just dancing, melodic, demonic and ever so complex.
Nevertheless my bruises will disappear.

It echoes and shrieks, their tunes a distressing hex.
Their feet gracefully flowing above me
While my numb brain is perplex.

Alas they are too free
So please don’t try to flee.

“Shh” the corpses whisper
After deleteriously enervating all they cling,
“May I say they’re a keeper!”

The chorus can’t help but sing.
Snaking around my ankles and tightening my throat-
Air an evanescent thing.

The skeletons twirl from afar, taking off their coat
I am all that lies;
Above the breeze numerous shadows float.

Forth shall dancers sway below skies
Forth shall dancers sway so kin,
And someday this dance will be done.
