white screen.
A sudden lurch.
Then tears.
There it is:
the future.
In black words
on a white screen.
No admittance.
Have been rejected.
By black words
On a white screen.
"You are not wanted."
That is what they say.
Those black words
on a white screen.
"You are not good enough."
They shout out.
Those black words
on a white screen.
Walking up
to receive the award.
Thinking about black words
on a white screen.
Smiling.
