Let's Meet
Let’s meet,
In the middle of the night.
Blanketed by the darkness,
Brought upon by twilight.
Let’s meet,
When the air just starts to chill.
And animals burrow deep in holes.
Where the flat plains meet the hill.
Let’s meet,
After the city falls asleep.
Where there’s a hushed silence,
Among the empty streets.
Let’s meet,
With empty bottles and jars,
In a flurry of fireflies,
Blinking like stars.
Let’s meet,
Even when the moon starts to fade.
And you whisper to me where
Our next encounter should be made.

I was inspired to write this piece one night in the middle of summer, when I saw the fireflies lighting up outside my window.
