Teddy Bear Patches
There's something to be said
About a Teddy Bear with a broken heart
Written in cursive stitches on it's head
"We must all leave Someday".
Deep down in pure white stuffing
Cuddled in a child's left & covers pulled taught
All fluffy with shoddy fabric and muffing
Mommy reads tales in a watercolor book
Poor, poor child; all grown about
Who now knows the kindness of Night
Their legs are long & shoulders stout
Red cheeks pushed Teddy in a box
Button eyes reflect the light of the room
The child holds a trash bag... Yet a Frown?
Mommy gave Teddy a patch toward doom
But that's the Price a teddy must pay
Those who wear a heart on their chest
Only get a broken stitch in their breast.
