Growing Old
I am not short but also not tall.
I don’t walk quickly, but I do not stall.
My memory is dull, but it isn't the worst.
I remember the day my son was born on May first!
My hair's fading from grey to white, but we’ll all be there soon.
So what if my hair is as white as the moon?
I’m not as boring as you may think.
My grandchildren love it when I take them to the ice rink.
I don’t pinch cheeks; that’s just rude.
And I certainly don’t have a cranky mood.
I live in my own house, and my health is okay.
I don’t live in a nursing home like some people say.
While I may be too tired and age 70 arrives,
My grandchildren still think I'm the star of their lives.
Those stereotypes are anything but true.
Being 70 just means that I grew!
