Ode to Coffee
Its rich aroma permeates through the house to my room
Filling my nose with suggestions of chocolate
Its aroma is my beckoning call
It reminds me of its existence as it leisurely brews in the kitchen
Its warmth soaks into my soul like a romantic ballad of love
My fingers lock around my favorite mug as the heat crawls up my arm
Its energy revitalizes my sleepy eyes, sip by sip
I feel my eyelids gradually expose themselves to the early morning
It is as simple as a bean, yet created into something so widely beloved
Something demanded around the world, each and every morning
I can taste the abundance of the Colombian soil in each steamy cup
Its simplicity blooms in many forms
Cappuccino, espresso, mocha, and latte
All so different but altogether encompassing the same bold essence
In the warm summer months, it’s poured over ice as it extinguishes my thirst
It serves a communities meeting place
A quiet, quaint coffee shop where I can bury myself into a book
A place I can go for serenity to study
A place for energy and harmony
You are so small, yet so big.
