jerry
Jerry was like my dad
No one can ever replace him
Not even my father alcohol consumes him
He was my safe haven
I saw him
Not knowing he was fading away
And that he would soon take his last breath
I held his hand and he held mine
I was not aware that it was the last time I would hear him say I love you,
The last time he would tell me goodnight.
I saw him turn to shut out the light
I woke up the next morning
His voice was missing
I walked up the stairs
He was not there
I asked where he was
they told me he was gone,
that he would not be coming back
At that moment my world stopped
I became filled with fear and despair
I lost someone that had loved me like there own
Someone that was always there for me and my family
Someone I loved and that loved me
