Bad Dreams

At the timely time of ten,
As my eyes begin to droop,
A clown begins to chase me,
In what seems to be a loop.

And then the dream transitions,
My surroundings become clear,
My dread comes to fruition,
Height, a nightmare of my fear!

Changing to another dream,
My mind seems to feel at ease
Although peaceful it may seem
Then comes a huge swarm of bees!

These nightmares occur often,
No wonder I cannot sleep,
A dream about a coffin,
That puts my mind in a creep

But as soon as we wake up,
These nightmares are forgotten,
Though not as sweet as syrup,
They feel vast as a garden.

The author's comments:

My inspiration for this poem came to me one night after waking up from bad dreams, often at least once or twice a week. Everyday, when I woke up, I would write down any details of my dreams (good or bad) and intended to use it for a story. However, I decided to compose a poem that I hope some people can relate to.
