Almost Illusory
Judy paces from kitchen to foyer
and back again. The curtains gleam neon
white, black and striking orange waltz in time.
Her hair whips around, swirling in wood beams
which creak threateningly step by step by -
Cats! Cats are prowling across bright hallways!
Sharp, argent claws slice into furniture
and slash outward again and again and -
tiny eyes shining, swiveling, wheeling
moving toward her now, streaming towards the girl
weaving in, out, spinning, descending through -
purring, hissing, pawing, reaching, climbing,
pivoting, gyrating, velvet fur coats,
the phrases... images froth and tumble
and there's this awful, high pitched beeping noise -
Judy sits bolt upright. The alarm's gone off. Haphazardly slamming buttons on the dashboard to make that interrupting little digital...
She sneezes.
