The Catch
The time is soaring by, so are the pitches. All I hear is the crowd cheering. Mostly for my team, but I always pick out the people that are not for my team. This inning is going to be nice and short out in the outfield. Well, for the next 6 innings, for all I know. I stand out there and hit once every two innings about. I watch every pitch that my pitcher throws, all strikes. Not umpteen amount of balls.
We are winning 3 to 0, but anything can change, but not this game. The other team has no hits, and it is the bottom of the 6th inning. As I sit down on the bench, I get out some seeds and start chewing and spitting. I watch as we get some hits, but no runs are scored.
As I jog back out to my spot, I go to look up at the scoreboard, and it is the bottom of the 9th now. I just saw that is was the bottom of the 6th; I’m probably just going crazy. But, I also see that the other team has no hits. I think that it is going to happen.
As I see the first batter go up, I thought that he was going to strike out, but he popped out. As the second batter got ready, I thought that he was going to strike out, and I was right. Three pitches, three strikes. As the third batter came up, I was not feeling too good because of all the pressure.
The first pitch, strike, the second pitch, strike. As my pitcher threw the third pitch, it was hit. And it was coming my way. As I started to go back, I knew that this hit was going to be over my head and I was going to have to put a 150% to get it. As I saw the wall coming, I knew that I was going to have to rob it to save the no hitter. As the ball started to come down, I start to go up. Then I jumped onto the wall and I got the ball. But I hit the ground like rain hitting the ground and the ball came out. All I remember is that the ball fell in my hat, and that I saved the no hitter.
The End
