Rain of Reminisce
There was a window placed in the back of the house
Where all beauty lived, through animals and trees
And sometimes in spring, you’d spot a grouse
And piercing rays of sun between the leaves
My future was crystal through that window ahead
Something I thought was not just all in my head
A window that showed many kids’ heads to kiss
And loving husband that brought me bliss
But the pain you caused made me unable to forgive
Your tortured words burrowed into me like shivs,
“You’re stupid, worthless, and mean nothing to me!”
Still I cried, “You said we would marry - was your guarantee!”
“It’s over, you know it, it’s been for awhile.”
Then you left, I watched your retreating profile
Now it’s gloomy in that little window of mine
I often gaze out and pretend that I’m fine
The steady stream of thudding rain
Reminds me of such aching pain.
