my first baseball game
My first baseball game
I was 9
I have been waiting for this day for a long time
I had heard all about this
The dust in the air
The chattering of all the kids on my team
The crunching sound of peanut shells being stepped on
It was the first time I had seen this
It was baseball
there were some unwritten rules everyone knew about
Since I stepped in the dugout I pretended I was some professional baseball player
Every kid on my team was like me , they were all new
I looked around while I unpacked my bag and I was so excited
I was trying to take it all in
Everything was new
It was all better than I expected it to be
It’s like when you get your first 100 on a test , it’s very new and exciting
I was thinking about everything that was about to happen
as the star spangled banner was sung I started getting nervous
Then as I heard the words “play ball” nerves went all through my body
knowing we were about to start the game
With butterflies in my stomach I ran onto the field.
Cheering and bats flying everywhere was seen and heard throughout the game
I never took my eye off of the ball
All of this seemed crazy
I did not really know what to do but meanwhile I was having fun
The whole game felt so quick
I guess that’s what happens when you are having fun
No matter what my performance was I was loving this whole time
Then more words from the umpire “that’s game”
It is finally over now
As we shook hands with the other team I was already excited for next time
I had such an amazing feeling that I had never had before
Never once in the game did I stop smiling
This is a one time experience that can never be replaced
My first baseball game was a time I will never forget
