Caved In
Ensconced in the cave, Cara sat silently
Praying her lover would come
Clad in tawdry clothing, a blank look graced her face
In one hand she held a bottle of rum
Hours on hours, she was sure he was on the way
He would be hastening to get here on time
Lacerations on her hands from throwing jagged rocks
As she waited in the dirt and grime
Days upon days, confusion set in
Cara’s lover still did not appear
She was given reprieve of her father’s beatings
So she came to meet him here
But Cara had forgotten what happened the other day
For it was not plausible in her mind
Or maybe she was just obdurate, refusing to believe
That her lover had an accident and died

I had to write a poem for my Englis class, and thought this one was pretty good.
