Underneath the Mistleote
Illuminated by the fire's glow,
Kiss me, just hold me tight,
Underneath the mistletoe.
As it continues to snow,
We'll stay and dance all night,
Illuminated by the fire's glow.
Outside fierce winds may blow,
But together we'll be alright,
Underneath the mistletoe.
As years pass our love will grow,
Soaring up to new heights,
Illuminated by the fire's glow.
Living is tough, I know.
But your love sets my heart a-light,
Underneath the mistletoe.
Oh how I loathe to go,
And leave my shining knight,
Illuminated by the fire's glow,
Underneath the mistletoe.

When I read a villanelle for the first time, I instantly fell in love with the style and deemed it the "most romantic form of poetry in the entire galaxy". So naturally, my first instinct was to write a love poem to my boyfriend Brandon. In fact, most of my better poems wouldn't exist if he hadn't been around. So this one is for you love.
