The rake tangling in the brown grass fighting for the colorful leaves
I work by the sides of my cousins
Later we destroy the huge pile by jumping and rolling in it
Colors of yellow, brown and red fly into the air
After we're down, we find flakes of our destruction in our hair and clothes
This new chilly season in Idaho brings so many memories

We drive up to Grandpa’s house for our annual halloween party
All the cousins have on their costumes making the scene quite exotic
The water's too cold to be diving for apples but for tradition we do it anyway
Then we have our donut eating competition
Were you have to eat a hanging donut tied by string to a tree
Without using your hands which makes it so much more entertaining
Afterwards we simply play and take pictures
Soaking in this year's Halloween hurray
This new chilly season in Idaho brings so many memories

Everyone's cheeks have a pink tinge from the heat of a fire
The marshmallows slowly turn yellow until they're a pretty brown
As we huddle around the toasty fire
I tell my little cousins about the boogie man
Most of them don't believe me but I manage to scare the youngest ones
I smile knowing that when I’m older and gone to college
My cousins will tell these same stories to the youngsters
This time with the family brings such joy

Football season has started once again
Soon smack talking is all that our family does
There are moans and cheers as we watch the games throughout the season
The best game is on November 26
Our tummies are full of delicious food from our Thanksgiving feast
And we are all grateful of the pies Grandma made
We are almost too full to jump and shout as our favored team scores
This new chilly season in Idaho brings so many memories

Although this is the same chilly season Idaho experiences every year
And their all the same traditions
As I become older I love this season more and more
And I come to realize how blessed I am to have this chilly season in Idaho
