Where I Come From
I come from blankets and bears,
from Blue’s Clues and Veggie Tales.
I come from praying every night,
thanking God for everyone.
I come from Montrose to Kalamazoo,
from Germany to Poland.
I come from St. Luke’s to Zion Lutheran,
from baptism to confirmation.
I come from please and thanks,
from you’re welcome and I’m sorry.
I come from Junie B. Jones to
the Magic Treehouse.
I come from Aunt Laurie’s to grandma’s,
from the pool to Ellsworth Lake .
I come from nose to toes 50/50,
and the Nuffer Shed Gift Shop.
I come from tubing and skiing,
from Labor Day to Leaf Weekend.
I come from people worth uplifting,
and a life that’s always shifting.

This poem was inspired by a trip I took up north the summer of 2015 and it sparked in my mind to write about my journey growing up there and all the things I enjoyed growing up.
