Fishing Days

last summers fishing failures dangled from trees, crankbaits trolling behind the boat, the cool summer breeze of the ocean air filling my body from head to toe. The yank of the reel fighting against me, the pike trying anything that it can to get away from me, but it gets tired and is reeled in. The glimmer of the scales and the sound of the camera, the release of the fish and the splash of the water. The cast of the reel, the spin of the crank. My fishing days are usually in my pond, I take out the red kayak and my tackle box. I can see fish near the shore, they are too small to fish for so I scoop them up and use them as live bait. The chomp of the large mouth and the set of the hook catches the bass and I start reeling, but the line snaps. Now I lost a hook and i have to retie the line and catch another little fish. The little fish are hard to catch because they sense movement very well, and when they get scared they shoot away like a bullet.

The way to catch the little fish is to carefully and very quietly put a net behind them and drop a rock in front of them so they shoot into the net, but be quick! If you aren’t quick they will swim out and you have to find a new spot to catch them at. It is hard to find a spot where they are because they can fit anywhere. The trick is to look near the edge of the water but don’t step hard or they will swim away. these are what my days consist of, I don’t know why I love to fish but it takes me to my happy place and it instantly relaxes me.
