Where i come from
I am from old rocking chairs,
From Wuthers to Hasbro.
I am from the cold compact sand in the driveway that smells of an old dirt road
I am from ferns to the old oak tree with jagged branches
I am from family reunions and broad shoulders
From Carpenters to Vanslambruks
I am from late dinners to early morning tailgates.
From “don’t speak unless spoken too” to “come on bud”
From good times to sad reunions.
I am from West Virginia to polish sausage and sauerkraut
From the death of my grandmother to the tragic motorcycle accident of my father.
I am from long lines of good men,
From farmers to blue collar workers to military men.
