Words Hurt Worse
They wake up every day upset
but all they want is to forget,
scars and bruises will go away,
but words hurt in a dif’rent way
their laugh is forced, their smile is fake,
their heart is in a constant ache,
we don’t think about what we say,
but words hurt in a dif’rent way
they’re hurt inside but try to grin,
you think they lost, what did you win?
Sticks and stones can break bones, they say
but words hurt in a dif’rent way
the smallest things can damage their heart,
pierce through like a poisonous dart,
from punches they can run away,
but words hurt in a dif’rent way
why can’t we all just get a long,
realize that we all belong,
scars and bruises will go away,
but words hurt in a dif’rent way.
